Alabama Governor Bob Riley

A native of Ashland, Alabama, Governor Riley received a business administration degree from the University of Alabama in 1965. His subsequent business career spanned 30 years, beginning when he co-founded a small business that grew into one of the largest integrated poultry operations in the Southeast. He later ran a number of businesses in real estate, trucking, and pharmacy, as well as a cattle ranch. Riley was an entrepreneur and businessman until 1998, when he was elected to represent Alabama's Third District in the U.S. Congress. Re-elected in 2000, he served as vice chairman of the House Armed Services Committee's Military Readiness Subcommittee. Riley was elected Alabama's governor in November 2002 and re-elected in 2006.
