Webinar: Reauthorization of ESEA and Rural Schools

On May 27, 2010, the U.S. Department of Education held a webinar on the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) and rural schools. Hosted by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), the webinar explained the Obama administration's proposed blueprint for improving the education law, and collected feedback from rural school leaders regarding the law and support for rural schools.

Jeff Schwartz, ARC education program director, hosted the webinar from ARC's Washington office. Joining White to present information and answer questions were Jackie Gran and Scott Sargrad of the Department of Education's Office of Planning, Evaluation, and Policy Development; and Jose Rodriguez, a member of the 2009-2010 Teaching Ambassador Fellowship Program.

The administration's "blueprint" for reform of the ESEA is available online at http://www.ed.gov/blog/topic/esea-reauthorization/.
