Governor Matt Bevin
Governor Bevin earned his undergraduate degree from Washington and Lee University and served in the U.S. Army from 1989 to 1993, where he attained the rank of captain. Following his military service, he launched a long-term career in the financial industry and as an entrepreneur, founding several firms in the Louisville, Kentucky, region and investing in others in the state and around the country. In 2011 he became the president of Bevin Brothers Manufacturing Company, a family firm in business since 1832, which he modernized and returned to profitability. Bevin has served on or chaired the boards of numerous nonprofit organizations, including the Louisville area chapter of the American Red Cross. His philanthropic work has supported education and infrastructure projects in the United States and in Africa and India, with a focus on providing opportunities for underprivileged youth. Bevin was elected Kentucky's governor in November 2015.
