Calling Appalachian students and teachers for a unique, all-expenses-paid summer STEM learning opportunity!ARC and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) will hold two hands-on STEM learning programs in July 2018: A high school math-science-technology institute, which is a two-week residential program for students and teachers; and a middle school science academy, which is a one-week residential program just for students.
Both programs offer the opportunity to work with world-class scientists at ORNL's facilities in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. High school and middle school students will conduct guided group science, math, and computer science technology research projects, while high school teachers will work with science practitioners to develop STEM-related curriculum. Activities include lab time and visits to nearby industries, universities, and museums to experience real-world applications of science, math, and technology. Each program culminates in a graduation ceremony showcasing participants' work.
