Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy in Appalachia: Policy and Potential

The Appalachian Region is blessed with an abundance of alternative and renewable energy resources which can be developed to reduce the nationís dependence on imported energy, generate environmental benefits, and create jobs and stronger economies in the Region. Most renewable energy technologies are in the early stages of development and commercialization. The report analyzes the distribution of these resources across the Appalachian Region examines the variety of programs and policies in each state and how these policies might maximize the use of the most abundant resources in each area of the Region.
