Community foundations are public charity organizations that use donations to support nonprofits and other needs-based work in a specified geographic area. In Appalachia, community foundations are often the only philanthropic option for communities.

READY Community Foundations provides training to help organizations strengthen operations, programming and fundraising to boost local economies.

This curriculum was created exclusively for the 2024 READY Community Foundations cohort by an external contractor to guide course facilitation, act as a primary source of reference, and enable active participation through both independent and collaborative activities. While the intended audience was specific to community foundations, the content and information found within may be useful and relevant to all ARC applicant and grantee stakeholder groups.
