ARISE Initiative

Appalachian Regional Initiative for Stronger Economies (ARISE) is a new $73.5 million initiative that aims to drive large-scale, regional economic transformation through multi-state collaborative projects across Appalachia. ARC launched ARISE to strengthen Appalachian business and industry, and to grow and support the development of new opportunities across multiple states.

J-1 Visa Waiver Program

The U.S. Public Health Services has designated many Appalachian communities as Health Professional Shortage Areas. Under certain circumstances, ARC will consider recommending a waiver of the foreign residence requirement on behalf of physicians holding J-1 Visas to place medical providers in these communities to address the Region’s healthcare needs.
