Community Conversations for ARC’s New Strategic Plan

Every five years, ARC works with its federal, state and community partners on a strategic plan that guides our investments throughout Appalachia’s 13-state, 423-county region. Our current strategic plan expires next year, and we launched our planning process by asking for input.

Hundreds of Appalachians participated in five discussion sessions, as well as a public survey. Now, that input is being used to shape how ARC invests and partners in Appalachia from 2026 to 2030.

In 2026, we will share an updated strategic plan that builds on Appalachia’s strengths, seizes emerging opportunities and addresses pressing economic challenges.

Together, ARC’s federal, state and community partners can use this plan advance economic prosperity for more than 26.5 million people who call this region home.
